Okay party people. It’s been awhile since I last posted, and I’m sorry about that. Getting settled in Louisville has been busier than expected. Who would’ve thought that I’d move to a smaller city and have fewer weekends free? Unfortunately, that means my work on my next book has stalled, too. But now that I do have some time to sit down and write, here are a few of my favorite things about my new hometown (in no particular order).
- Pub Trivia at Saints: We don’t play every week, but I love pub trivia. And fortunately, this one caters to the senior inside of me: it starts at 6:30! That time means that it usually also caters to other people, seniors on the outside. I walk in and am usually among the youngest people in the bar. Whenever we hear a song recorded after 1975, my team gets wide-eyed.
- Theatre : Louisville is full of fun little theatres – my husband and I went to a Princess Bride-themed fundraiser for one of them – but my favorite is this small company. In addition to their regular shows, they have been doing a fifteen-minute play segment multiple times a night on the first Friday of every month. The play was especially written for this, and it’s called The Stranger and Ludlow Quinn. I look forward to the first Fridays so I can see what’s going to happen next!
- Smart Women Read Romance book club: Shortly after I moved to Louisville, I went on Meetup and created my own book club. Imagine my surprise when people ACTUALLY CAME! We meet about once a month, but I always have fun with the thoughtful and interesting women who attend.
- Paul’s Fruit Market: I’m lucky that I moved about 5 minutes away from this great place. It’s easy to stop over for some fresh-cut mango, a delicious deli sandwich, and (if I’m treating myself) a two-pack of bourbon balls. Yum!
Of course, I miss my friends in DC, but I’m enjoying exploring my new town, too.
