Well, now I truly feel like a star.
As many of you may have seen, Pixel Entertainment had the official launch party for The Booby Trap this past Saturday. I’m no expert on book launches, but I thought this one was, as Mary Poppins would say “practically perfect in every way.”
We started off with the great and gracious staff of Urban Chic, a boutique in one of Washington’s trendiest neighborhoods, Georgetown. Their store is beautiful, and the in the moments I took a second to look around, I knew I could have bought something off of every rack.
To that, we added champagne and darling cupcakes from just down the street at Georgetown Cupcakes. They had tiny red heels on them – so cute! And, from what I heard, the staff at Georgetown Cupcakes worked hard to make sure they were the right color red.
And then I had my entourage. Yes, apparently now I have an entourage (squee!). It’s only a matter of time before I get theme music, I think. They made sure everything was just perfect so all I had to do was sit down, sign books, and do my thing. I will never be able to thank the ladies of Pixel enough: Jan, Kristy, and Debbie. Plus, my husband and a cousin did considerable schlepping, making sure that I didn’t fall over in my super high heels.
After that, it was just a matter of time for people to come in and the place to fill up. And fill up it did! I was honored and touched to see friends, even some from out of town. I met some new people who just dropped in to see what was happening and they bought my book. I rocked my red heels and towered over everyone, in body and in spirit.
Here’s a little secret – I was so nervous! But how can you be when you have such a great location, such a great team, and such amazing friends. The love here extended way beyond the pages of The Booby Trap.
Nothing will be able to compare to my first book launch, I know. But I hope that I’ll see you at other events, and that we can all Rock our Red Heels!
